Berther’s versatility—ranging from pop and jazz to punk, noise, and free improvisation—meets Cissokho’s deep-rooted mastery of the kora and percussion, passed down through generations of Senegalese Griot musicians. Their collaboration promises a rich dialogue between the electric and the acoustic, the avant-garde and the ancestral.

Martina Berther, born in 1984 in Chur and now based in Zurich, is one of the most versatile electric bassists in the Swiss music scene. Her sound spans pop, jazz, punk, noise, experimental music, and free improvisation. She performs internationally with her duo Ester Poly alongside Béatrice Graf, the collective AUL, as a solo artist under the name Frida Stroom, and with singer Sophie Hunger.
The musician from the Grisons region also composes film music, engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, works as a multi-instrumentalist and studio musician, and has contributed to around 23 released recordings. In 2018, she received the City of Zurich's annual arts grant, and in 2020, she was awarded the Swiss Music Prize. She completed her studies in music education and jazz performance at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) in 2012.
Martina Berther (*1984 in Chur), wohnhaft in Zürich, gehört zu den vielseitigsten E-Bassistinnen der Schweizer Musikszene. Ihr Klangspektrum reicht von Pop, Jazz, Punk und Noise bis hin zu experimenteller Musik und freier Improvisation. International ist sie unterwegs mit ihrem Duo Ester Poly zusammen mit Béatrice Graf, dem Kollektiv AUL, solo als Frida Stroom oder mit der Sängerin Sophie Hunger.
Die Bündnerin komponiert Filmmusik, interessiert sich für interdisziplinäre Kollaborationen, arbeitet als Multiinstrumentalistin und Studiomusikerin und ist auf bislang rund 23 veröffentlichten Aufnahmen zu hören. 2018 erhielt sie das Werkjahr der Stadt Zürich, und 2020 wurde sie mit dem Schweizer Musikpreis ausgezeichnet. 2012 schloss sie ihr Studium in Musikpädagogik und Performance Jazz an der Hochschule Luzern (HSLU) ab.

Sadio Cissokho was born in 1985 into a Senegalese Griot family. Griots are musicians, singers, poets, and storytellers who pass down traditional knowledge through oral transmission and serve as entertainers at festivals and ceremonies. Sadio Cissokho's family has a long tradition of playing the kora and djembe. Under the guidance of his father, Buba Cissokho, and his older brother, Ali Boulo, he was trained as a percussionist and kora player.
The versatile musician has performed with various ensembles and toured across Africa, Europe, and China, including as a soloist with the ballet Silaba Thiaroye 44. He also regularly plays with the dance company of École des Sables, founded by Germaine Acogny in Toubab Dialaw. Since 2015, he has been living in Switzerland, performing in different formations, including with the Cissokho Brothers. He regularly conducts workshops in Europe and Senegal and teaches both children and adults.

Sadio Cissokho wurde 1985 in eine senegalesische Griot-Familie geboren. Griots sind Musiker, Sänger, Dichter und Geschichtenerzähler, welche durch mündliche Überlieferung traditionelles wissen weitergeben und als Unterhalter bei Festen und Zeremonien tätig sind. Sadio Cissokhos Familie hat eine lange Tradition des Kora- und Djembéspiels. Durch seinen Vater Buba Cissokho und seinen älteren Bruder Ali Boulo wurde er zum Perkussionisten und Koraspieler ausgebildet.
Der vielfältige Musiker spielte in verschiedenen Ensembles und tourte durch Afrika, Europa und China. Unter anderem als Solist beim Ballett Silaba Thiaroye 44.
